Administrative and Support Staff
We are blessed to have an amazing team in our administrative and support staff. We welcome you to view the photos below in order to familiarize yourself with our staff and how they contribute to our team.

Sheri Plantenga
Preschool Director
I was born and raised in Arcadia, California. I was called to be a preschool teacher in Oceanside in 1975. I took my child development courses at Pasadena City College and Palomar College, and have continued to work in preschool for 43 years. I started out as a teacher’s aide and then worked my way up to teaching; I then became an assistant director and spent 4 years as the director of Lakeside Academy in Victorville. When the opportunity was presented to me to teach at Apple Valley Christian Academy Preschool, I was excited with the idea of being back in the classroom and working with Mrs. Wagner. Now Mrs. Wagner has moved up to Kindergarten and I am now in my fourth year as Preschool Director.
I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 26 wonderful years. I have three amazing children. My two boys are married to wonderful girls and I now have four beautiful granddaughters. My daughter, Sarah, is a graduate of AVC as well as Cedarville University in Ohio. The school has been such a blessing in her life.
I love being a part of the AVC family, and count it a privilege to lead the littlest ones not only in learning their ABC’s and numbers, but learning all about Jesus and His love for them.

Cherie Casey
Bookkeeper
Mrs. Casey has served the vital role of bookkeeper for AVC for nine years. She has lived in the High Desert with her husband and daughter for 14 years. Her daughter, Briana, graduated from AVC in 2015.
Sharon Smith
Office Manager
I have been part of the Apple Valley Christian Academy family since 2004. My youngest son came to AVC in 2004, starting in 7th grade until graduation in 2010. I hosted a Brazilian student (I refer to her as my host daughter) in 2012 and she graduated from AVC in 2013.
I have lived in California all of my life and I have lived in the High Desert since 1963. I attended local schools in Apple Valley and Victor Valley Community College.
Prior to coming to AVC I had worked as an Office Manager for a group of marriage and family therapists. I started working at AVC as a proctor in 2007, and have been working in the front office since 2008.
I enjoy working with my Apple Valley Christian Academy family. I love that God is the center of the school. I have always felt that AVC is God’s school and I am proud to work in a position that I can honor God on a daily basis. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][us_image image=”49643″ size=”thumbnail”][vc_column_text]
Daphne Bartz
Learning Center/Homeschool Coordinator
Mrs. Bartz has completed 7 years of service with AVC. She has served in many roles, including Proctor, Elementary Lead Proctor, and Teacher’s Aide. She graduated from AVC in 1985 and continues to live in Apple Valley with her husband and their three children. Their son, Zach, graduated from AVC in May 2019.
Jennipher Watson
Secondary Student Coordinator
I have lived in the High Desert my entire life. In 2005 I married my high school sweetheart. I graduated from Victor Valley College in 2005 with an Associates Degree in Math/Science. I then worked at Desert Valley Hospital as a phlebotomist until we started our family and I became a stay at home mom. We have six beautiful children. We are blessed as our quiver is full. “Children are a heritage from the Lord,…” Psalm 127:3. My heart has always been toward children. I am honored to be doing God’s work for his kingdom.
Ronda Nunes
Elementary Library SpecialistI began working at AVC in 1996, but I have a long history of volunteering at AVC both in PTF and in coaching. My husband, Brian, and I have two children, Justin and Kendra. Both of our children attended AVC from Pre-K thru 12th grade. I enjoy spending time with my family and our whole family loves attending AVC home games, cheering on those Warriors. I consider myself extremely blessed to serve the children and families here at AVC.
Carolee Goode
Volunteer
Ms. Goode has been a faithful servant at AVC for 14 years. She has contributed much to our school, mainly in the area of proctoring. She loves our school and continues serving now as a volunteer.
